Enterprise IT System future of judiciary: LHC judge

LAHORE: Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi of the Lahore High Court has said that enterprise IT system was future of the judiciary.

Talking to media representatives here on Wednesday, he said that a number of cases were pending for years due to old manual system. The new IT system had been introduced with an aim of reducing the problems of lawyers and litigants, he added.

He said the LHC IT team overcome the problems surfaced due to the new IT system, in a short time and lawyers’ complaints had been reduced up to 75 per cent regarding the new system. However, lawyers cooperation was required to eliminate the problems completely, he added.

He said that more then 18000 lawyers had provided their details and the same had been uploaded in LHC Mobile App. Now lawyers were receiving information through SMS and mobile App regarding their cause lists, he added.

Justice Qureshi said that more than 100 lawyers daily approached high court for redressal of their complaints regarding the new IT system and the same were resolved immediately.

He said that on the recommendation of bar, the cause lists were being released on weekly instead of monthly basis. He asked the bar representatives to provide list of lawyers who were not receiving the cause lists, so that their details could be entered in the system for the provision of cause lists.

“If a lawyer does not receive his cause list then he can get it by making an SMS to 8050”, he added.

it is pertinent to mention here that Justice Qureshi heads the committee set up for the redressal of grievances regarding the new IT system.
