PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tuesday approved establishment of local government offices at tehsil level in order to restructure the local bodies system in the province.
The development took place on the recommendations of Provincial Minister for Local Bodies, Elections and Rural Development, Akbar Ayub Khan under Local Government Amendment Act 2019.
The Finance Department in its new fiscal year starting from July first would allocate needed funds for establishment of local government offices at tehsil level.
The prominent feature of the step was that government has also created 1027 vacancies in 79 tehsils of the province.
These tehsil offices vacancies included Assistant Director, Assistant Engineer, Accountant, Sub Engineer, Computer Operator, Progress Officer, Auto Cad Operator, Junior Clerk, Driver, Security Guard and Sweeper.
A statement from the Local Government office said the expenditures would be carried out from the Account -4 of the relevant district and tehsil offices.
Meanwhile, the Minister presided over a meeting at Local Government Secretariat wherein he directed for establishment of local government offices and induction on newly created vacancies on an urgent basis.
He hoped the step would help enhance the municipal services in cities and villages.
