ISLAMABAD: Balochistan and Sindh would vie for the top honour in the final of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) Blind Cricket Twenty20 Super League at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Cricket Stadium, Abbottabad on Wednesday.
In the 11th league match of the Super League played on Tuesday, Balochistan beat Sindh by six wickets. In a double round-Robin event, every team has to play twice with each other.
In the earlier first encounter, Balochistan had outplayed Sindh, so had the psychological advantage. Balochistan and Sindh were already qualified for the final with four wins each, so this match was a sort of rehearsal for the final.
In the morning, Sindh won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision didn’t prove right as they lost quick wickets in the power play. Badar Munir’s devastating bowling left Sindh in a wobble at the score of 18 runs by losing 3 wickets. Moeen Aslam then saved the collapse and made 82 runs off 53 balls, he guided his side to score 157 runs for the loss of seven wickets in allotted 20 overs. Badar Munir was the star in bowling, he took three wickets for 21 runs.
In reply, Balochistan reached the target of 158 runs in 13.4 overs for the loss of four wickets. Badar Munir was the top scorer with 51 runs while Zafar Iqbal made 40. Shahzaib Haider took two wickets. Badar Munir was declared Man of the Match.
In the 12th league match, Both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab were effectively out of the race of the Final, as both teams lost four games out of five played but this game was important to end the event on a winning note.
In the afternoon, KP won the toss and decided to bat first. KP made a mammoth total of 255 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Riasat Khan who was off-color in earlier games shined with the bat, he made 80 runs off 40 balls and Haroon Khan made 29 runs. Muhammad Shahzeb took three wickets for 23 runs and Nisar Ali took two wickets.
Punjab in reply made only 194 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Nisar Ali was the top scorer with 56 runs and Matiullah chipped in with 36 runs. Fakhar Abbas was the pick amongst the bowler, he claimed three wickets. KP won the match by 61 runs while Riasat Khan was declared Man of the Match.
