Civil society urged to play role for success of PM’s billion tree project

MUZAFFARGARH:Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Saqib Zafar Wednesday called upon civil society to play cohesive role for success of PM’s vision of ten billion tree project to control global warming.

Addressing a ceremony of plantation drive arranged here under program of ‘Khidmat Ap ke Dehleez Per’ , he said that earth temperature would likely to be shot up in next 50 to 200 years. He said, it would lead survival of life quite difficult.

He said decreasing number of trees was posing danger to humanity on the earth. He said desserts were increasing which was resulting in decreasing rainfall on the earth.

Referring global standard, Saqib Zafar said that every country should have trees on 30 percent of its land. But unfortunately, Pakistan has forest on its six percent of its land, he lamented.

He said all we must have to come forward to protect our future generations.

Secretary Forest Southern Punjab Sarfraz Magsi said on the occasion that about

10,000 trees were planted across the district.

He said further trees were going to be nurtured on 100 acre land in Muzaffargah under supervision of Deputy Commissioner Amjad Shoeb Tareen.
