Country Director WB discusses investment opportunities with KP STIT Minister

PESHAWAR: World Bank Country Director to Pakistan, Najy Benhassine called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Science and Information Technology (STIT) and Food, Atif Khan and discussed investment opportunities for international donors in various projects approved in annual development program of this year in the IT sector of STIT department here on Tuesday.

Managing Director Information Technology Board Ali Mahmud and officials concerned were among the participants.

On this occasion, Atif Khan apprised the participants that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government have approved various projects of digitization in science and information technology department to ensure transparency in administrative matters, provision of basic services to the citizen, employment opportunities and increase in provincial exports.

“KP government was active to expand the umbrella of digitization to the whole province and enrich digital connectivity between government and citizens in respect of provision of basic services”, he added.

The minister said that the provincial government has allocated around Rs 1400billion in financial budget 2021/22, to materialize the projects.

The country Director Word Bank showed great interest in providing technical assistance and support for establishing projects such as citizen facilitation centres, integrating ease of doing business platforms and improving fiber connectivity in the whole province. The Country Director also agreed to take practical steps for executing the said projects.

Atif khan assured that the KP government would provide required regulation and legislation to the World Bank regarding their technical support for the projects.
