Govt bound to provide funds to LHCBA in accordance with lawyers strength; LHCBA
LAHORE: A general house meeting of Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) was held here Tuesday to discuss financial problems and issues related to the bar.
The meeting presided by President LHCBA Shafqat Mehmood Chohan was attended by a large number of lawyers.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary LHCBA Mian Mohammad Ahmad Chachar, Mohammad Saeed Ansari Advocate, Mohammad Kazim Khan and Rai Bashir said that federal and provincial governments were legally bound to provide funds to Lahore High Court Bar Association in accordance with lawyers strength. They emphasised the need to extend bar library and IT lab as the number of lawyers had increased.
President LHCBA said that former Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial had announced construction of a multi-storey parking plaza at Lahore High Court and bar library extension after discussing the same with government, but no progress had been made in this regard.
The house allowed bar office bearers to utilize all resources for completion of these projects. The house also allowed office bearers to contact federal and provincial governments to get funds for welfare of LHCBA members.
