PESHAWAR: The district administrations Tuesday conducted online awareness campaigns across the province to orient people about dengue preventive measures.

All the district administrations started creating online awareness among people by posting instructional videos, flyers and banners on social media that were showing preventive measures for safety from dengue virus.

The people were advised to use insecticide spray, wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants, and to stop the entrance of mosquitoes in their houses.

After the confirmation of dengue virus existence in 19 districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the insecticide sprays were arranged in these districts on a daily basis.

The KP Information department in a press release said that dengue fever is a mosquito-borne viral infection, found in tropical and sub-tropical climates, mostly in urban and semi-urban areas.

The symptoms of the disease typically begin three to fourteen days after infection. These may include high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash while the recovery generally takes two to three weeks.
