Respect to supremacy of Constitution only way for Pakistan to move forward: Hashmi

MULTAN: Veteran politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi on Thursday said that respecting the supremacy of Constitution was the only way for Pakistan to move forward.

Addressing a press conference here he said that he had always remained active for the cause of democracy and supremacy of the Constitution and had been struggling for the noble cause for the last 40 years.

He expressed solidarity with the PML-N Quaid Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and said that during a meeting, the PML-N Quaid had expressed commitment to continue struggle to protect democracy and the Constitution. He added that he would stand by Nawaz Sharif shoulder to shoulder in this struggle.

He said that he believed in transfer of power through elections. Hashmi added that he believed the general election would be held on time.

To a question regarding who would take over the PML-N as president, Hashmi said that supremacy of the Constitution was his only concern and not the offices.

He also criticized Imran Khan and said that PTI legislators had been availing benefits despite the fact they had resigned as the members of parliament.
