AJK University launches anti-pollution drive

MUZAFFARABAD: The students of Public Health faculty (PHF), University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have launched an anti-pollution drive by distributing face masks among traffic policemen.

The students formally established a Public Health society (PHS) in this regard aiming to give awareness to the society and seek the attention of concerned institutions.

The PHS was launched by PHF of AJK University during a seminar held here at University auditorium on Thursday.

The speakers including Coordinator Public Health Dr Adnan Altaf, Dr Ilyas, Riaz U Rehman Shaikh,Raja Ikram Khan ,Junaid Munir, Asima Rehman,Sadaf Baigh ,Rehmut BiBi and Sajid Awan while speaking on the occasion said that we are facing pollution hazards which are existing in the air.The air pollution is causing serious health risks and diseases including lung cancer, nose and throat diseases and numerous other health problems.

The speakers stressed upon the national and international environmental institutions to take cognizance of increase in pollution in our atmosphere and take pragmatic steps to eradicate the risks of environmental pollution.
