RAWALPINDI:Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) Wednesday demolished 17 shops illegally constructed on Railway Road and confiscated four truckload goods of encroachers under grand anti-encroachment operation.
According to RCB spokesman, earlier, notices were issued to the owners of the shops to remove encroachments on their own else strict action would be taken.
The RCB team also demolished illegal sheds and cemented constructions in the area.
He said, the anti-encroachment team conducted raids in Dhoke Mustakeem, Pirwadhai Mor, Bakra Mandi, Chungi Number 22, Tench Bhatta and other areas and confiscated hand carts, counters, tables, stands, chairs and other items of encroachers.The shopkeepers have been warned of strict action in accordance with the law if the encroachments are not removed, he added. The spokesman informed that the operation was being conducted on daily basis. Illegal banners and posters were also removed from different areas, he said.Meanwhile, the RCB Food Branch team visited Saddar, Peshawar Road, Allahabad and Chor Chowk and checked 20 food points. 16 show cause notices were issued to the rules violators, he said adding the team collected 10 food samples which have been sent to lab for quality test.
