Christmas to be observed on Tuesday

RAWALPINDI: Christmas community would observe Christmas with traditional religious zeal and fervour on December 25.

The day would be dawn with special prayers where participants will offer special prayer for the speedy progress, prosperity and security of the country.

Elaborated programmes have been given final shape in different areas including congregation of Christian community, Christmas cake cutting ceremony, erection of Christmas tree, distribution of sweets among children by Santa Claus and Christmas Choral Competition among Church choirs.

A large number of people belonging to Christian community are attending these celebrations.

The city churches particularly Catholic Church, Lalkurti, Protestant Church, Mall Road, Saddar and Catholic Church at Christian Colony have been decorated with colourful lights and illuminated with Christmas trees.

4000 security personnel including female police, special branch and elite force would be deployed in the district to ensure tight security arrangements at Churches and other public places.

Meanwhile, traffic police also devised special plan to maintain traffic flow on the city’s road.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Cantt, Zahid khan inaugurated the Christmas tree at Katcheri Chowk.
