Cleanliness campaign continues

SUKKUR: Director, Operations, Northern Sindh Urban Services Corporation (NSUSC), Mazhar Ali Dayo has directed for proper cleaning of the routes of Muharram processions.

Talking to reporter here on Saturday, he said that cleanliness campaign was in progress with sanitary staff deployed in Sukkur, Khairpur, Shikarpur and other districts of the northern Sindh.

The construction material and debris were being removed from the routes, he added.

The Director warned that strict action would be taken against those found negligent in discharge of their duties.

Meanwhile, all government departments including the taluka municipal administrations, health department, Fire Brigade, and civil defence have been directed to ensure all possible arrangements for maintaining security, peace, cleanliness, availability of lights, drinking water, scanners, security cameras, and installation of walkthrough gates on the routes of Muharram processions and places of majalis.

No one would be allowed to stand on rooftops of commercial and residential buildings situated along the routes of mourning processions, a police spokesperson said.

The government has also banned the entry of controversial ulema in the district Sukkur to maintain peace during the holy month.
