CM directs master plans for DHQ GIlgit, Shaheed Saifur Rehman hospital

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman here Tuesday directed Departments of Health and Construction

and Works (C&W) to immediately prepare the master plans for District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Gilgit and Shaheed Saifur Rehman Hospital and has convened

the meeting of concerned officials on October 16 in this regard.

He said construction work on state of the art Trauma Centre at DHQ Gilgit would start this year and would be completed with an estimated cost of Rs 50 million whereas a parking area would also be setup in the hospital.

The Chief Minister said Shaheed Saifur Rehman hospital was being constructed with assistance of Punjab Government and directed the C&W Department to prepare PC-I for it on war footing basis so that work could be started.

He was addressing a high-level meeting regarding preparation of master plans for the two projects and resolution of people’s problems in public sector hospitals in the province.

The CM said the Punjab Government has already provided the required funds to GB government and directed the concerned officials of Finance Department to provide funds for purchase of medicines to hospitals without any cut and delay.

Despite massive increase in health budget, he said, complaints of shortage of medicines in public sector hospitals were being received and directed Secretaries Health and Finance to take cogent measures by ensuring timely purchase of medicines to hospitals in future and quick resolution of complaints of masses.

The Chief Minister directed for better coordination among institutions, addressing problems of health sector, setting of human resource cells in all major Govt. departments and distribution of funds among hospitals of the new districts as per their population ratio so that people could get relief without facing any problem.

The shortage of doctors in GB has been addressed and modern machines were installed in public sector hospitals for diagnoses of ailments.

He said delay in purchase of medicines would not be accepted and directed the Secretary Health to link all hospitals of GB through District Health Information System for which his government has already provided more than Rs 30 million funds with an objective to enhance efficiency of staff and provision of better health service delivery to the patients.

An Endowment Fund of Rs 700 million was also setup at Department of Health and its ToRs would be finalized soon, he said.

Social Cells in sub ordinate organizations of the C&W Department would be setup besides ensuring maintenance funds on the basis of departmental distribution ratio.

Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman directed Secretary C&W to expedite work on melting and patch work on roads projects and make contractors bound to maintain quality in works and speed up construction works.

The CM said decision has been taken for introduction of Urban Transport System in major cities of GB for which negotiations were being held with the Punjab Government aimed at to provide better transport facilities to people especially senior citizens, children and disabled.
