Commander 102 Bridge Brig. Zaheer, Secretary KP Hockey Association Syed Zahir Shah, former international hockey player Zia Ur Rehman Binori, Official of the TS Builders and people from different walk of life were also present.

Speaking on this occasion, soon after inaugurating the Squash Complex, which is being the fourth of its kind in Pakistan after Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, he said “We want to play our role in extending all out support to facilitate the best to our youth,” Lt. Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt added.

Khan, Qamar Zaman and Mohib Ullah for achieving name and fame for the motherland in the field of squash. He said Pakistani players have unprecedented contributions in the arena of squash game worldwide.

Butt said that they would always welcome good proposal as far as promotion of squash and other games are concerned. “We will have our input in the development and nurturing healthy sports activities in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA,” he added.

He said the construction of state of the arts Squash Complex would have a key role as far as ensuring best playing facilities to youngsters are concerned. “We will welcome you all to come and guide us what steps you think needed for the development of squash and other games,” he opined.

Squash Wizard Jansher Khan in his brief chat with reporter lauded Corps Commander Peshawar for taking keen interest and ordering construction of the state of the art squash complex in the premises of Peshawar Services Club. He termed the squash courts in the Squash Complex as international standard and best in Pakistan.

Qamar Zaman on this occasion said that it is very encouraging and an added facility for the youth. He said the Squash Complex structure with gears like front wall, sides walls, back glass, flooring that had imported from Germany.

Lt. Gen. Nazir Ahmad Butt is very keen to support KP Squash Association for holding international tournaments and assured that all out security in this connection would be provided.

Ullah Khan said that Peshawar Services Club has a key role in the promotion of squash earlier on and with this new facility of international standard in the premises of Peshawar Services Club would give ample opportunities to the youth to come and play squash.

He said earlier, a facility of synthetic turf for Tennis, indoor hall with two badminton courts were constructed giving good opportunities to the youngsters to come up at national and international levels.

Commander 11 Corps Lt. Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt construction of the state of the art Squash Complex, having two class courts with wooden floor facilities, is an endeavor to revive the spirit of the our Great Champions and inspire our youth to regain their glory.

He said, Squash Complex will add another gem to the wide range of sports facilities offered at PSC which will not only offer another healthy activity to our worthy members but will also go a long way in reviving the spirit of squash champions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said the Squash Complex was constructed at the cost of Rs. 17 million besides other works as tuff tilling of car parking, parking sheds that cost an overall total of Rs. 24.68 million.

He disclosed that PSC has the honor of nurturing the greats of squash comprising Azam Khan, Roshan Khan and Hashim Khan. The first courts built in guestroom lawns in 1920s comprising of two open and one covered court.

In 1990 two additional courts were added while upgraded existing courts with the concrete roofs and wooden flooring. On August 17, 2007, these historical courts were demolished so as to build new courts which remained delayed till now and this time Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Nazir Ahmed Butt took keen interest to have the construction of state of the art courts so to restore the historical link of PSC with the Games of squash.

An exhibition match was also played on this occasion between two top national ranking players Mehran Javed and Saif Ullah Khan wherein Mehran Javed defeated Saif Ullah by 11-5, 11-7 and 11-9.

Ahmed Butt gave away mementos to legendries Jansher Khan, Qamar Zaman, Mohib Ullah Khan, Secretary Transport and IT Govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dawood Khan, Sqn Ldr Waqas, PSB National Squash Coach Shehzad Mohib, CEO TS Builder Fazal-e-Mateen. The two players Mehran Javed and Saif Ullah Khan also got trophies with cash prizes.
