Cross section of people welcome Nawaz election as PMLN President

PESHAWAR: The people belonging to cross sections of the society in Khyber Pakthunkhwa here Tuesday highly welcomed the unopposed election of former Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif as PMLN President and termed it a good omen for strengthening democracy in the country.

MPA Saleh Mohammad told reporter that PMLN General Council has elected Nawaz Sharif unopposed as PMLN President for a period of four years that would immensely help strengthen democratic process in the country.

He said Nawaz Sharif was the most popular leader of Pakistan as he was elected three times Prime Minister and cannot be sidelined from politics.

Seleh Mohammad said PMLN was united under leadership of Nawaz Sharif and the party would emerge victorious in 2018 general elections on the basis of its record development works undertaken across the country.

Nawaz Sharif had made Pakistan an atomic power and gave gift of CPEC, Lowari Tunnel, Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital Swat, Peshawar Bypass, Hazara Motorway besides scores of gigantic projects to people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa despite PTI was enjoying government in the province.

The amendment in Election Reforms Bill-2017 has been passed after following all the rules and constitutional requirements but it is beyond understandings that why the opposition was raising hue and cry on this issue.

The PMLN did nothing wrong or contrary to the spirit of democracy by removing a clause from the constitution invoked by a dictator. Therefore, it was beyond understanding that why elements claiming to democrats were making hue and cry over Election Bill 2017.

In the parliamentary system, the same laws prevailed even in the neighbouring countries of the region as well and everybody has the right to participate in the country’s politics.

PMLN KP leader Arbab Khazir Hayat Khan also welcomed unopposed election of Nawaz Sharif as PMLN President and termed it a good omen for democracy.

He said PMLN workers and leaders of all four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan have reposed full confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and have rejected all the negative impression of those elements claiming of differences in PMLN.

Senior lawyer Alamzaib Advocate termed the bill in accordance with the law and constitution and there was nothing objectionable in it. He called for maintaining political stability in the country to face the key challenges.

“The fast changing scenario at the world level demanded of us to show unity and discipline in our ranks and files to frustrate designs of the forces wanting to weaken us.”, he remarked.

He said political issues should be addressed at political platforms and should not be dragged in courts.

Politician Khalil Khattak also hailed unopposed election of Nawaz Sharif as PMLN President and congratulated PMLN workers and leaders for taking such bold decision that would strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

He said democracy was the best system that can address peoples problems and with Nawaz Sharif unopposed election political parties in the country would be further strengthened.
