Dara Eagle holds Khyber Green to 1-1 draw in FATA Football Super League

PESHAWAR:Dara Eagle of Dara Adam Khail held Khyber Green to a 1-1 draw in a thrilling match of the FATA Football Super League-2017 being played here at Qayyum Sports Complex on Sunday.

Former Pakistan football team skipper and coach of Pakistan Air Force Arshad Khan was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the matches, the players were introduced to him. Ex-national team skipper Basit Kamal, Secretary of the Organizing Committee Shahid Khan Shinwari and large number of spectators were also present and witnessed the matches.

The strikers of the Dara Eagle of Dara Adam Khail played well and despite conceding early goal lead against Khyber Green they managed to comeback and held Khyber Green to a 1-1 draw in the dying moments.

Khyber Green which lost the match to Ghazi Ajab Khan Afridi in their group-B of three teams Dara Eagle, Ghazi Ajab Khan Afridi, also from Dara Adam Khail, got the lead in the 17th minute when Sajjad Khan zoomed quickly after receiving a fine through ball from mid-fielder Khalid at the center line.

Sajjad Khan dodged three defenders in a way and desperately kicked into the net to leave rival goal-keeper guessing. It was good angular kick straightly went into the right corner, given no chance to goal-keeper to stop.

After taking lead, Khyber Green put in more pressure to double the lead but they were failed due to miss-fired certain good chances of scoring. At half-time Khyber Green of Jamrud Tehsil, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was leading by 1-0.

It was the second session in which both Dara Eagle and Khyber Agency raided on each other territories with some good attacking moves but none of the team could be able to score any goal. Only in the dying moments of the match Dara Eagle’s Mirwas got a free ball at the center line and zoomed quickly toward the rival goal-post. By reaching in front of the goal-post Mirwas first dodged the on rushing rival goal-keeper and then kicked in to the net to make the tally 1-1.

After 1-1, both the teams tried their hard to get any lead but they were failed and thus they match was ended 1-1 draw. FIFA Referee Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah supervised the match while Mohammad Amin and Allowddin acted as deputy referees while Qazi Asif acted as match commissioner.

Ghazi Ajab Khan Affridi earlier defeated Khyber Green and played a draw against Dara Eagle, got three points by taking first position in the group-B while Dara Eagle, which played two matches and both draw against Khyber Green and Ghazi Ajab Khan Afridi, got second position in the group. Both qualified for the quarter-finals from Group-B. After the matches a presentation ceremony was also held in which Secretary Organizing Committee Shahid Khan Shinwari awarded cash ward to Ahmad Nazrin Bin Ahmad Nazim of Malaysia and Mochamad Koza Hanipi of Indonesia, Samad and Mansoor for their stunning performances in their first match.
