DC inspects majalis, processions arrangements

SUKKUR: Officers of the police and district administration have termed the Muharram-related arrangements as outstanding and up to the mark, especially those made for mourning processions to be taken out on Muharram 9 and 10 from different areas of Rohri and Sukkur city.

The organizers of the processions have also expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements.

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Raheem Bux Maitlo, who alongwith Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Sonia Kaleem, SSP Amjad Shaikh paid a visit to Ghareeb Abad Markazi Imam Bargah and inspected the route of the main procession to check arrangements after they were finalized by all the allied departments on Friday.

The officers also met the organizers of the main procession and inquired about the arrangements that have been made so far.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Maitlo said that operations for cleanliness, removal of hanging PTCL, SEPCO cable wires and removal of encroachment from the route had been completed, while security arrangements were finalized.

He said that a special monitoring control room for the procession has also been established at the DC’s office and CCTV cameras were installed at sensitive points of the route for close and round-the-clock monitoring of the main procession.
