Delegation of foreign journalists meets KP police chief

PESHAWAR: A five-member delegation of foreign journalists on Monday called on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtukhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood here at office of CPO.

The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood welcome the delegation and apprised them that the traditional peace of the province has been restored due to unprecedented sacrifices of the police and other security forces.

He informed the delegation that the overall law and order situation of the province has improved a lot and the incidents of terrorism and other crime have touched the lowest ebb as compared to the last 10 years.

The IGP further informed that the people of the province had passed through difficult phase of security situation and approximately 1500 police officers and Jawans embraced martyrdom in the ongoing war against terrorist.

However, he added, that due to the unprecedented sacrifices of police and other law enforcing agencies peace has been restored and the province has been made safe for everyone to carry their business in a peaceful and congenial atmosphere.

The IGP invited the foreigners particularly the journalist community to come to the province and observe the prevailing situation and keep inform their fellowmen about the real picture of the province.

The IGP termed the visit a good step and added that such visit will further improve the bonds amongst the countries.

While speaking on the occasion the members of the delegation said that it was their first visit to Pakistan and particularly they found Peshawar much more peaceful and safe.

They also highly commended the sacrifices of the police and security forces in the war against terror.The visiting delegation is on a two days tour of Peshawar.

The members of the delegation were from Lebanon, Nepal and Taiwan. The IGP presented a police shield to the members of the delegation as a memento.
