District Govt to hold `Pride of Peshawar’ awards ceremony in last week of April

PESHAWAR:District Nazim Peshawar, Mohammad Asim Khan has decided to hold `Pride of Peshawar Awards’ ceremony in the end of April to encourage those people who have made valuable contributions in different fields.

According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, a meeting was held at conference room of district government to finalize arrangements for Pride of Peshawar Awards ceremony.

The meeting, headed by District Nazim, decided that people who made remarkable achievements in the fields of education, health, women empowerment, literature & fine arts, music, youth affairs, sports, history, culture, information technology, agriculture and trade would be honored.

The awards will also be conferred on those who have died by honoring them post humorously, adds the press release.

The ceremony will be held at Nishter Hall where musical arrangements will also be held for the amusement of participants.

Speaking on the occasion, District Nazim Peshawar, Mohammad Asim said these awards will be given purely on merit basis.

Applications in this regard, he continued, would be received from people in the month of April. The committee will short list applications on merit basis, he reiterated.

The activity, Nazim continued, will apprise the new generation about the legends of Peshawar who have made remarkable achievements in different fields of life and brought honor for the city.

It will also instill a spirit of competition among youngsters who would learn to do better for getting recognition and honor, he added.

It merits a mention here that Distirct Government of Peshawar also held Pride of Peshawar ceremony in 2017 and honored 75 personalities of the city.
