Faiza Zafar of Sindh wins 8th ICMS National Women Squash Championship

PESHAWAR: Faiza Zafar of Sindh upset Pakistan No. 1 Sadia Gul of Sui Northern Gas Pipe Line in the final of the 8th ICMS National Women Squash Championship played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Saturday.

Chairman ICMS School and College System Malik Tajamal Hayat was the chief guest on this occasion. Former World Champion Qamar Zaman, Secretary General AIPs Asian Malik Amjad Aziz Malik, Chief Referee Munawar Zaman, Nazim Nawa Khali Sajjad Khan Khalil, Member Executive Committee Wazir Gul, Haji Sher Bahadar, Coaches Riaz Khan, Mehboob Khan, Salim Khan, Nazir Khan and Gulab Sher and large number of spectators were also present on this occasion.

The final match was provided great thrill for the sitting spectators as Sadia Gul won the first set by 6-11 but Faiza staged a strong come back and won the second set 11-6. When the set tally was 1-1, this was Faiza Zafar who took the lead by winning the third set 11-8. Sadia, this time, played well and succeeded in leveling the tally when she secured 10-12 victory in the fourth sets and level the tally 2-2.

It was the fifth and decisive set in which Faiza Zafar of Sindh shocked Sadia Gul in the last set by 11-7. Thus Faiza Zafar won the match by 3-2. At the end of the final Malik Tajamal Hayat gave away trophies and cash prizes to the players.
