Farmers can sell their wheat directly to Food Department: Minister Food

BAHAWALPUR: Punjab Cabinet has approved the suggestion of the Food Department after which farmers can sell their wheat directly to the Food Department.

This was told by Provincial Minister for Food Samiullah Chaudhry during his visit to Bani Shell Wheat Procurement Center here today. He said that in view of protecting the interests of small scale farmers, the role of middlemen has been eliminated from the process of wheat procurement.

He said that 200 jute bags or 400 polypropylene bags can be provided to anyone who wants to sell his wheat. Moreover, the person can get as many gunny bags after delivering the wheat to the procurement centers. Provincial Minister inspected the facilities being provided to the farmers at the center and monitored the process of distribution of gunny bags.
