Filtration plants in need of maintenance

MULTAN: The citizens here were faced with problems as dozens of water filtration plants were non-functional due to various reasons across the district.

Chairman District Council Multan, Deewan Abbas Bukhari said that provision of safe drinking facility was top priority matter and for this purpose the work on 42 filtration plants was already underway. He added these would be made functional soon.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Saad Qureshi, resident of MDA chowk, while talking to reporter said that some filtration plants lacked electricity connections and some needed complete refurbishing.

Another citizen Liaqat Ali, r/o pul Bararan area, said that he had to travel long distance for getting clean water as filters of nearby plants were not replaced and were not functional therefore.

It may be noted that Public Health Engineering had set up about 68 water filtration plants in different areas of the city but these were not properly monitored by quarters concerned, stated some senior citizens.
