Five out of nine questions referred to committee in PA

PESHAWAR: The Deputy Speaker Provincial Assembly Mehr Taj Roghani on Tuesday referred five out of a total nine questions put up during question hour session due to unavailability of concerned ministers and insufficient written reply.

The questions which were referred to committee were regarding appointments and sacking of employees in Worker Welfare Board, Labour policy, ban on plastic shopping bags and provision of funds by the federal government to the province since 2014 to 2016.

On her question regarding ban on plastic shopping bags by the provincial government, MPA Sobia Shahid of PML-N said that despite ban, the bags were still being sold in the market. She questioned the implementation of the policy in this regard.

KP Law Minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi told the House that a committee being headed by Shaukat Yousafzai was working in consultation with all the stakeholder to ban the use of the bags.

He asked for two-day time to get a brief from the relevant secretary on the issue and then take the House into confidence.

PML-N parliamentary leader Sardar Orangzaib Nalotha criticized the government and said that the chief minister in his order banned use of plastic bag on June 22, 2017 but still there was no implementation of

his orders.

Anisa Zaib Tahirkheli of QWP noted that the plastic bags are main cause of bad sewerage system and asked who was punished in this regard.
