RAWALPINDI:The Food Department Rawalpindi will receive applications for issuance of Bardana (empty wheat bags) till April 17 from 8am to 4 pm on all working days.
According to Deputy Director Foods, the Food Department on the directive of Punjab government had established 18 wheat procurement centers in Rawalpindi division to procure 50,000 wheat bags and has already started receiving applications for issuance of Bardana to the farmers.
Salman Ali informed that four procurement centers had been established in Rawalpindi, seven in Attock, three in Jhelum and two in Chakwal district to achieve the wheat procurement target and facilitate the farmers to sale the wheat at the centers of the Punjab government.
He informed that a price of Rs 1300 per 40 kg is fixed by the Punjab government which would be paid to the growers through their bank accounts and no cash payment would be made to protect the rights of the growers.
It had been decided that Rs 90 per 100kg would be paid to farmers as delivery charges .
It is advised that wheat growers should submit applications for Bardana at the procurement centers in their respective areas till April 17.
The Bardana would be issued on first come, first severed basis. Original CNIC would be essential for receiving Bardana.
Complaint cells had also been established on Divisional and district levels to address any issue faced by the farmers.
There is a toll free number 0800-13535, 0800-60606 and 0800-13505 to facilitate the farmers. The authorities concerned had directed the officers of food department that issuance of Bardana should be ensured purely on merit so that the rights and interests of the farmers and growers could be protected.
