PESHAWAR:The Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Eng. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra attended a condolence reference arranged to remember late Prof. Ziaul Qamar at Edwardes College, Peshawar on Saturday.
The ceremony besides the Principal, Brig. Neyyer Firdaus, faculties and students of the institution was also attended by the family members of late Prof. Ziaul Qamar on a special invitation. It merits a mention here that late Prof. Ziaul Qamar who passed away recently had been long time faculty of the institution.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor highly eulogized the professional capabilities of the deceased as well as the services rendered by him for promotion of education and image building of the institution.
Late Prof. Ziaul Qamar, he said, apart from contributing his services as a learned prominent figure in the field of education also used to contribute his valuable role for reforming the society by applying his artistic capabilities.
The Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the College, while expressing his deeply felt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family of Qamar and said that Qamar being his personal friend was very close to him.
The moments passed in his company, he added, are indeed memorable and there is a need to keep his services alive.
The Governor, who himself is an old-student of the college, also paid rich tributes to the role which the institution has been contributing in development of the country. Later on he also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
