Govt successfully controlled terrorism, load-shedding: Abid Sher Ali

FAISALABAD: State Minister for Power Chaudhary Abid Sher Ali, addressing an open-court, Saturday said the government had successfully controlled inherited and most critical issues of terrorism and load-shedding.

He said terrorism and load-shedding were legacies of Musharraf and Zardari’s era. “The country was experiencing daily load-shedding up to 18 hours while subversive activities were also rampant,” he added.

Acknowledging the contribution of security forces, he said, “Our government launched Radd-ul-Fasad and Zarb-e-Azb operations against terrorists. Our forces have rendered unprecedented sacrifices and now peace has been restored in almost every part of the country”.

Regarding load-shedding of electricity, he said during the last 65 years, the previous governments could

generate only 13,000 megawatt of electricity but the present PML-N government succeeded in zero load-shedding.

“After completion of ongoing projects, the power generation will jump to 20,000 megawatt while we have planned to add up to 25,000 megawatt of electricity, thus making Pakistan a surplus electricity generating country,” he added.

Commenting on public problems, the minister said the government was fully determined to resolve problems of people by providing all basic facilities at their doorsteps.

He said, “The PML-N fully believes in supremacy of rule of law and our struggle for this purpose will also continue in future”.
