Govt to continue agenda of progress, prosperity to change lot of people: PM

CHICHAWATNI: Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has said the government will continue to pursue its agenda of development and prosperity for the benefit of the masses.

Addressing a mammoth public rally in Chichawatni near Sahiwal on Thursday, the Prime Minister said whole Pakistan is reaping the benefits of development projects started by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government without any discrimination.

Mohammad Nawaz Sharif said the government has taken numerous steps to improve the welfare of people. He said government passed on the benefit of reduction in oil prices to the people and the price of electricity has significantly been reduced, bringing it down from 18 rupees to 5.25 rupees per unit. Similarly the price of urea has been brought down from 4000 rupees to 2500 rupees per bag to facilitate the farming community.

Prime Minister lamented that prosperity is being witnessed all over the country except KPK where the rulers are busy in the politics of baseless allegations and accusations. He said PML-N does not believe in the politics of using bad language against its opponents; rather it is committed to serve them with sincere efforts.

Prime Minister said the government has launched a number of power projects to overcome the energy crisis it inherited from the previous governments. In this regard, he referred to yet another power project that will be inaugurated at Qadirabad near Sahiwal later this month.

Pointing to law and order situation, the Prime Minister said the government has made serious efforts to rid the country of the menace of terrorism. He said back of the terrorists has been broken in successive military operations and overall law and order situation has remarkably improved in the country.

Prime Minister said his government has launched projects in all four provinces to give the people equal share in the development projects.

The Prime Minister announced to link Chichawatni directly with the motorway. He also announced to establish a campus of veterinary university in Chichawatni. He also declared a grant of Rs. 250 million for Chichawatni, besides another Rs. 250 for the development of roads in the city. He announced a sum of 100 million rupees for provision of electricity in constituency 162.

The Prime Minister said technical institute and vocational training institutes will be upgraded to impart youth of the city technical skills to enhance their employability in the job market. The Prime Minister also announced to start MA classes at Government Degree College for Boys and Government Degree College for Girls in Chichawatni to provide education facilities to local students at their doorstep.

He announced provision of Sui gas for constituencies 162, 163, 225 and 226.
