Hoti terms Imran’s demand for early poll as ‘ploy’ to find escape from fulfilling promise of change

PESHAWAR: President Awami National Party (ANP) Kyber Pakhtunkhwa, Amir Haider Hoti has termed the demand of PTI chief, Imran Khan regarding holding of early elections as a ‘ploy to make escape from fulfillment of his claim of bringing ‘change’ in the province.

“Why Imran Khan is making a demand for early polls despite of the fact that his party (PTI) is governing in Khyber Pakhtunkwa,” asked Hoti while addressing a press conference here at Bacha Khan Markaz on Tuesday.

“Such demands of pre-mature completion of assembly term should be made by those political parties which are sitting in opposition,” Hoti quibbed.

“The reason behind demand of early polls by Imran Khan is aimed at finding ‘face saving’ from the promises and pledges made by PTI with people at time of elections,” he went on to say.

Amir Haider Hoti said PTI has launched mega Swat Motorway project and it should be desirous about completion of the government’s term for completion of this project.

Similarly, he continued,PTI led KP government should also complete it most vaunted Peshawar Rapid Bus service instead of finding an escape way.

“Imran Khan has to face people and give answer for his promise of bringing change,” Hoti remarked. ANP will not allow them to find escape way and hoodwink masses over the pretext that they were not allowed to fulfill term.

ANP KP President was also of the opinion that Imran is also of the opinion that in the prevailing circumstances when PML(N) leadership is in crisis, it is a suitable time for contesting them in elections.

Amir Haider Hoti also announced that ANP will fully participate in

protest march by tribesmen and FATA parliamentarian to be held on October 9, 2017 against delay in implementation of FATA reforms.

He said federal government is showing lackluster response in implementation of pledges made at time of announcing FATA reforms.

He also criticized KP government over showing non-seriousness in combating dengue epidemic. Hoti said he do not want to make politics over such issues, but government’s response was very slow and disappointing.

KP government would have welcomed services offered by Punjab Health department for containing dengue, he argued and added that we should take benefit of expertise of Punjab Health department in controlling dengue.

Amir Hoti also demanded compensation for relatives of victims of dengue and proper treatment for those admitted in hospitals.

About NA:4 by elections, Amir Haider Hoti said ANP leadership is in contact with other party elders, but would not withdraw its candidate in favour of anyone.

He said history is testimony to the fact that NA:4 constituency is mostly won by candidates of ANP and therefore other party leadership should acknowledge this fact and withdraw their candidates in favor of winning party.

Amir Haider Hoti said ANP has received more than 500 applications for allotment of seats tickets in national, provincial and FATA assemblies.

The parliamentary board of party will start its meeting from October, next and start awarding tickets to most suitable candidates, he added.
