MIRPUR: A three-day leadership training programme for AJK women concluded on Wednesday with a firm and unanimous resolve to pitch for their more vibrant participation in national and regional politics to serve the nation in more effective manner.
Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR) organized the leadership training program exclusively for womenfolk in the state’s capital town.
This was the third workshop in a row held in Muzaffarabad wherein a group of around 30 women participated from different social and political sectors. Challenges faced by women in social and political setup of the state. Social, economic issues and opportunities, Leadership, Advocacy, and Networking were key focus areas of the workshop modules. The workshop also included a comprehensive module on the legislative structure of AJK.
Dr. Rehana Kausar-DSA University of AJK who was chief guest at the closing ceremony of three days leadership training for women, appreciated the initiative and termed it a milestone of positive change in society. Dr. Rehana said it is pertinent to have a deep and clear understanding about dynamics of the Kashmir issue.
This series of leadership trainings for women have been greatly appreciated in AJK. The female participants have termed it as a unique and life changing experience for them.
Academic excellence coupled with political training is a pre-requisite for effective and meaningful participation of women in society.
“It is our mission to enhance political participation of women and invoke positive and progressive political thinking in women of AJK Atia Anwer Zoon, Director Women Wing KIIR said besides highlighting the aims and objectives of the training for women.
