RAWALPINDI: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday accepted the appeals of Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, in Benazir Bhutto murder case and issued notices to parties to appear before the court with record on November 27.
PPP has filed three different appeals in LHC against the verdict of Anti Terrorist Court announced on August 31.
In the first appeal, Barrister Latif Khosa asked the court to announce a punishment for General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf in accordance with the criminal code.
In the second appeal, the court has been called upon to change the sentence given to the police officers involved in the case.
The appeal points out that punishment for murder in the law is death sentence and therefore, the police officers should be given the same.
The third appeal has asked the court to award death sentence to the five Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan suspects who had been acquitted by the ATC.
The bench, comprising Justice Tariq Abassi and Justice Habibullah Amir while accepting the petition for regular hearing issued notices to FIA, ATC and other respondents.
The two time former Prime Minister Mohtramma Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in a suicide attack on December 27,in 2007 after addressing a public meeting at Liaquat Bagh.
