MEPCO imposes Rs 3.5mln fine for power theft

MULTAN: Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) Monitoring & Surveillance (M&S) teams have imposed Rs 3.5 million fine on 140 consumers for allegedly stealing electricity during the month of September.

According to Manager (M&S) Engineer Abbas Lashari, the teams imposed Rs 196,035 fine on a consumer in Grain Market Sub-division, Rs 557,295 on 19 consumers in Mumtazabad sub-division, Rs 68,835 fine on five consumers in Gulburg sub-division, Rs 949,905 on 33 consumers in New Multan, over Rs 1.1 million fine on 48 consumers in Shah Rukn-e-Alam, Rs 215,775 fine on 15 consumers in Hassanabad and Rs 396,855 fine was imposed on 19 consumers in Garden Town sub-division during the last month.
