MULTAN: Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) recovered Rs 34 million from 3,252 power defaulter during the current fiscal year.
According to Mepco sources, various teams launched a crackdown on defaulters in all sub-divisions of the circle from July 2017 to September. The teams recovered 500,000 rupees from 74 defaulters of Cantt sub-division, 300,000 from 147 defaulters of Nawan Shehr sub-division, 1 million rupees from 43 defaulters of Hassan Parwana sub-division, 800,000 rupees from 209 defaulters of Industrial state sub-division, 1 million rupees from 158 defaulters of Mumtazabad sub-division, Rs 1.3 million from 236 defaulters of Ghalla Mandi sub-division, 200,000 rupees from 43 defaulters of Makhdoom Rasheed sub-division and Rs 1.7 million recovered from 161 defaulters of Qasba Marral sub-division.
Similarly, Rs 1.6 million were recovered from 250 defaulters of City sub-division, Rs 1.7 million from 225 of Walaytabad, 900,000 rupees from 140 defaulters of Pak Gate, Rs 4.1 million from 311 defaulters of Garden Town and various others from all sub-divisions of Mepco.
In a statement, issued here on Tuesday, CEO Mepco Engineer Mohammad Akram Chaudhry said that the operation would continue against defaulters without any discrimination.
