JHANG: Punjab Minister for Cooperative Mohammad Aslam Bharwana inaugurated ‘Plant for Pakistan Spring Tree Plantation Campaign’ by planting a sapling in green belt of Kalma Chowk here Saturday.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Wahid Arjmand Zia, Chairman Zila Council Babar Khan Sial, DFO Nasim Iqbal, District Officer Emergency Ali Hasnain and officers of other departments concerned.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that 440,000 plants would be planted in the district during the current tree plantation campaign.
He asked the citizens to join hands with the government for tree plantation in nearby areas.
DFO Nasim Iqbal told the participants that 200,000 saplings would be planted by forest department, 50,000 by other government departments, 40,000 plants by defense forces and 1,500,000 plants would be planted by farmers.
After the inaugural ceremony, an awareness walk was held in which a large number of citizens and government officers participated.
