Murder accused jumps to death in canal

SARGODHA: An accused in a murder case jumped into a canal and drowned in the Phularwan police precincts when he was being taken to a court to seek his physical remand.

Police sources said on Friday that abduction-cum-murder accused Lutf-ur-Rehman, a resident of Rattu Kala, jumped into the Lower Jhelum canal when the police van was crossing its bridge.

Later on Rescue teams recovered the body of the accused from the canal.

Lutf-ur-Rehman had allegedly abducted a student, Mohammad Waqas (12), for ransom on Sept 4, 2017, and murdered him for not receiving the ransom money.
