LAYYAH:Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested an adjustment clerk of Revenue department during a raid here Monday and recovered Rs 50,000 illegal gratification he received from complainant.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of Magistrate Hafiz Kashif Liaquat and circle officer ACE Zafar Iqbal Chandia.
Complainant Abdul Aziz r/o Chak 170-TDA had informed ACE that his registration of some area he had bought was cancelled and when he approached the adjustment branch to get it restored the adjustment clerk Siddiq Kahlon demanded Rs 700,000. He added that he paid Rs 500,000 to Siddiq Kahlon and Rs 200,000 to Waseem Iqbal Sehrai but they did not fulfil promise and instead demanded another Rs 300,000 following which he approached Anti Corruption department.
A raiding party was formed which raided Dogar hotel at Chowk Azam, the place where accused official wanted the money delivered.
The raiding party arrested the accused official and recovered marked currency notes valuing Rs 50,000 from his possession.
ACE has registered FIR and started investigation. The accused has been sent to jail.
