PBPLA urges government to redress grievances: Mohammad Tahir

RAWALPINDI: Like other parts of the Blobe ,Salam Teachers Day was celebrated across the country to recognize the role of teachers in nation building.

Talking to reporter, Professor Mohammad Tahir, President Punjab Blind Professors and Lecturers Association (PBPLA) said Salam Teachers Day is observed to honour the role of educators in national uplift and betterment of society but regretted that blind professors who are performing their duties equally as normal persons in public sector despite many odds.

Professor Mohammad Tahir said that disabled teachers should be given special education allowance and other facilities as the issue has been raised at various forums.

He said that an application has also been sent to the Chief Minister through Siddique ul Farooq Chairman Evacuee Trust Board Property (ETBP).

Prof Tahir is blind and teaches in Govt. Post Graduate College Asghar Mall, here. Adding their number is negligible and demanded redressal of their grievances as they have to prepare recorded books in Braille to teach the students on their own.

He urged to CM Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of the appalling situation of blind professors serving in general education and announce the same facilities for them on the occasion of Salam Teachers Day.
