PESHAWAR: Provincial Disaster Management Authority KP (PDMA KP) has launched mega disaster awareness campaign regarding adopting safety measures during natural disasters across.
Director PDMA Human Resources, Kabir Afridi, Deputy Director Mohammad Shakeel and other high ranking officials of the authority also distributed pamphlets among masses during the campaign.
Speaking on the occasion Director Human Resources PDMA said “Risk and uncertainties are increasing in the region due to climate change, greater frequency of extreme events, warmer temperature and increased incidence of temperature influenced disasters”
“The natural disasters cannot be stopped but better planning and strategy can help reduce damages caused by natural disasters. We have launched this campaign to create awareness among masses”, he said.
Taimur Ali, Media Coordinator PDMA said, campaign has been started to aware residents about importance of precautionary measures during natural disasters. He said that PDMA teams are visiting schools and colleges across KP to conduct workshops and mock exercise to cope with natural disaster.
“Our district DDMOs are also distributing posters and brochures amongst the people on the roads containing information about what to do during earthquake, landslides and other natural disasters,” he said.
He said that posters would also be pasted on public
transport including rickshaws and buses to reach out public in every nook and corner
The effort is the part of PDMA comprehensive print and electronic media campaign to create awareness among the masses.
