Peace Day observed

PESHAWAR: Peace Day was marked by the students of schools and religious seminaries spreading the message of peace and tranquility through awareness walks and other activities on Sunday at Peshawar and Swat.

To celebrate the International Peace Day, students, teachers, the officials of education departments and individuals from different walks of life gathered at different ceremonies organized by Peace Education and Development (PEAD) Foundation in collaboration with UNICEF Pakistan.

The ceremonies concluded with special prayers for the global peace, sovereignty and sustainable development of the country.

The school children enthralled the audience through tableau, patriotic peace-songs, different skits, role plays, and speeches related to Peace, tolerance and social cohesion.

The teachers and staff members highlighted the themes and importance of the day along with its background.

They urged that the day should be observed in each and every institution regularly.

Speakers also shared their views and stressed the significance of peace and harmony. The participants also staged peace walk with banners and posters inscribed with different slogans of “Peace and Prosperity” and “Non violence”.

Addressing the ceremony at Peshawar, PEAD Program Manager Tariq Hayat said every year “Peace Day” was celebrated around the globe to sensitize the people about the sufferings of war, violent conflicts and its impact on humankind.

Tariq Hayat emphasized that without empathic approaches and real collaborative actions the dream of peace and prosperity can never be fulfilled, therefore it was the high time to work together for peace.
