PFA starts action against sale of substandard eatables

JHANG:Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has started action against sale and preparation points of substandard eatables in the city.

Assistant Director Operation of Punjab Food Authority Saadia Amjad told journalists that she checked food outlets at Khokha Chowk and Tonga Adda and issued notices over unhygienic conditions in the outlets.

She said that packets of gutka, pizza and colours being used in eatables were discarded and owners and handlers of these shops were directed to ensure hygienic environment in their shops.

She said that an awareness Seminar was also held in local office of Punjab Food Authority for bakers and confectioners.

Twelve illegal factories preparing food items were also sealed during the checking, she added.

She asked the journalists to cooperate with the staff to ensure provision of healthy food items to citizens.
