RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Cantonment Board here on Monday launched ‘Cleanliness Week’ at Shahbaloot Park which will continue till October 1.
Deputy Cantonment Executive Officer Umar Masoom Wazir, Deputy CEO Arslan Haider and Additional CEO Rana Rameez Shafqat started the drive in a ceremony attended by elected board members, Malik Sajid, Rashid Khan, Assistant Secretary and Media Coordinator Qaiser Mahmood, Horticulturist Sohail Ahmed Khan, Chief Sanitary Inspector Waris Bhatti, Senior Vice President Private Schools and Colleges Association Management, Pakistan Naseer Ahmed Janjua, Incharges and staff of concerned departments.
Umar Masoom Wazir and Arslan Haider directed the sanitation staff to perform their work properly and highlighted steps being taken to improve cleanliness.
They said that daily monitoring of sanitation staff work would be done. RCB has been making efforts and taking measures for improving the overall cleanliness in the area, they added.
The elected members have also been requested to keep a vigil on the working of sanitation staff in their respective wards.
The participants were informed that cleanliness week would be observed after every three months.
Similarly, the residents were called upon to extend full cooperation to the civic body and put garbage in dustbins placed in all areas.
The members thanked CEO Dr. Saima Shah for taking special interest and measures for cleanliness and assured their full cooperation.
Zafar Qadri said that special prizes would be given to sanitation staffers on their good performance during cleanliness week.
Awareness pamphlets were distributed among the motorists and pedestrians on the occasion.
