RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology RIC is going to establish Pediatric Cardiac Center soon owing to increasing number of child patients suffering from heart ailments.
Talking to reporter, Chief Executive Officer RIC Dr. Azhar Mehmood Kiani said since heart diseases are more common in South Asia and unfortunately it has also grasped youngsters and children.
The blood vessels of people of this region Are narrow hence they are vulnerable to heart disease.
In view of increasing number of child patients, the Institute has decided to develop facility to treat increasing of child patients and no one will have to go abroad for treatment.
He said Chief Minister Punjab, Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif has given green signal for the project.
He informed that a highly trained professional Pediatric Heart Surgeon working in Saudi Arabia at present has decided to join RIC in December and similarly Dr. Maaz Ullah of AFIC would also be joining the department.
To a question Dr Kiani said RIC was providing state of the art facilities in Emergencies round the clock free of cost.
There are 2000 Pediatric surgeries carried out in the country in a year whereas the requirement is above 13000.
He said it is painful to see children and young patients of 28-30 years both male and female suffering from Cardiac problems.
