‘Rs 24.33 bln spent on rehabilitation of calamity hit areas’

DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Punjab government has earmarked Rs 24.33 billions for rehabilitation and reconstruction of calamity hit areas of the province.

This was stated by PML-N leader and MPA Begum Najma Arshad, in a ceremony held at government post-graduate college of commerce here.

She said the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) was carrying out survey in 20 districts of the province to assess losses as earthquake in 2005 and floods in 2010 had caused huge loss to infrastructures, adding that Rs 24.33 billions would be spent on rehabilitation.

ADCG Mohammad Iqbal Mazhar, District Emergency Officer Dr Natique Hayat, District Coordinator PDMA Shahbaz Bukhari and Civil Defence Officer Rab Nawaz Gormani also spoke on the occasion.
