GILGIT: Provincial Minister for Education, Mohammad Ibrahim Sani said Wednesday that formal approval for Gilgit Baltistan University has been received and the matter of appointment of its first Vice Chancellor would be addressed shortly.
The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved Rs2 billion for Gilgit Baltistan University to promote higher education in the province, he said.
The GB University has been formally approved and its gazette was published today, he said in a statement issued here today.
I alongwith Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) would formally inaugurate the University to be run under an aegis of Federation very soon, he said.
The people of GB would get quality higher education at their doorsteps and will continue their studies without financial problems besides saving time of students.
He thanked CDWP for allocation of funds and Chairman HEC for granting approval for the University.
