HYDERABAD: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) is applying international standards while approving the maps which received from the builders for construction of their buildings in the region.
This was informed by the Regional Director SBCA Tazmeer Asim while talking to members of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry here at HCCI Secretariat on Thursday.
He claimed that after formation of SBCA, the standardized buildings with quality work are being constructed in Hyderabad and the same can be proved the construction of a state of the art shopping mall at the outskirts of the city.
He made it clear that the SBCA is also ensuring the construction of buildings according to design of the maps and in this connection no compromise is acceptable for the authority.
‘The Chairman Sub-Committee of HCCI on SBCA Mohammad Shakir Memon while
speaking on the occasion drew the attention of regional director about the problems being faced by the buildings during the process of approval of the maps adding that SBCA is only approving the maps of buildings which comprise the area of 200 Yards.
The builders have to approach Karachi for approval of maps of the buildings which comprise of 600 Yards, he informed and demanded that the approval of buildings of 600 Yards should also be started from SBCA Hyderabad.
He said that rates of flats and cottages went beyond the reach of purchaser due to heavy taxes on construction and majority of the citizens preferring to live in rental houses instead to purchase residential property for them. He underlined the need of reduction in the taxes so that the citizens could be able to purchase their own flats or cottages.
He also highlighted the issues being faced by the citizens in multi-storied buildings in thickly populated areas which included the non availability of parking space, ramps for senior citizens as well as improper electric, water and drainage systems in the buildings. He called upon the SBCA to bind the builders to strictly implement the existing rulers and provide all such facilities before handing over the possession of flats to buyers.
