Shopkeepers hold protest against construction of illegal shops

BAJAUR AGENCY: A complete shutter down strike was observed on Sunday in Khar medicines market to record protest against the construction of illegal shops.

The call for the strike was given by All Medicines Shopkeepers

Association to halt the construction of new shops in the front of the existing markets by some influential people.

All the medical stores, laboratories, X-ray plants and restaurants of the market, adjacent to the agency headquarters hospital Khar were remained shut during the strike.

The protesters on the occasion said that the construction of new shops

in the front of existing markets by a group of land mafia was absolutely wrong and injustice with the shopkeepers as it would badly affected their business.

They flayed the local administration for not taking action against the land mafia for constructing illegal shops in the market.

The shopkeepers vowed to continue their strike till the stoppage of construction work of illegal shops.

Leaders of various political and religious parties and trade union

associations Including PML-N local chapter president Haji Rahat Yousaf, PPP local chapter president Aourangzeb, ANP leader Shah Naseer Khan and medicines traders’ association president Khalilullah also participated in the protest.

They urged the local administration to take serious notice of the matter and resolve the issue with immediate effect.

On the other hand, the residents have complained that they faced serious problems in buying medicines because of the strike.
