HYDERABAD:The office bearers of Sindh University Teachers Association (SUTA) called on Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Mohammad Burfat where they presented to him three major demands for acceptance.
The university spokesman informed here on Monday that the demands of SUTA included award of leave encashment to faculty, approval of M.Phil allowance from back date and grant of residential plots to newly-inducted teachers.
The negotiations took place in a friendly and pleasant environment and the Vice Chancellor Dr. Burfat; in his response said National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had earlier expressed grave concern over release of bonus salary to teachers by Sindh University terming it a serious violation of standing rules.
Besides, the university was also under acute financial strain due to ending of financial year, he said and added that as for M.Phil allowance the same was already being disbursed as per rules.
Regarding grant of land to newly appointed faculty, the vice chancellor explained they had no space available for this purpose; however, he said the varsity administration would take the matter up with the Government of Sindh with a view to acquire land for the target objective to resolve the issue.
