Ulema urged to maintain peace during Muharram

ATTOCK: The Ulema should work collectively to maintain peace and religious harmony in Muharram as it’s their prime responsibility.

This was stated by district police officer Attock Ibadat Nisar while chairing a meeting of district peace committee here.

The DPO informed the meeting that district police was fully alert to perform their security obligation during Muharram. Terrorism threat and incidents have created extra ordinary situation in the country, therefore

it is our prime responsibility to work collectively to defeat the nefarious designs of the terrorists, he added.

On the government’s directive, the district police with the assistance of others law enforcement agencies was working on a comprehensive programme to ensure foolproof security plan to maintain law and order and provision of security during the month of Muharram.

He urged religious scholars to play their role to maintain religious harmony.

He said, all sects should follow the code of conduct and refrain from any unwanted activity. He said, Attock district is a bordering district with Khyber Pkhtunkhwa and is important from security point of view.

Nisar said, we can defeat our enemy by maintaining unity and religious harmony among our ranks. DC Attock Rana Akbar Hayat in his address hoped that religious scholars will maintain religious harmony as they have been doing in the past. All religious scholars assured the DPO and DC of their complete cooperation
