RAWALPINDI: Benazir Bhutto Hospital celebrated World Heart Day to highlight the importance of increasing heart disease and its prevention here Thursday.
Talking to reporter, Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Raja Mehdi Hassan said every year 15 to 17 million people die of heart diseases across the world. Forty percent were those who die after proper treatment whereas 10% were those who didn’t get treatment. The major problem in this regard was the lifestyle of the people, junk food, highly cholesterol diet and lack of exercise were cause of serious heart problems. The preventive measure was balanced diet, 6-8 hour sleep and brisk walk of 1 hour daily was essential to prevent heart disease.
To a question, he said the hospital had bulk of life saving medicines for heart patients coming to Outdoor Patients Department (OPD).
