PESHAWAR:World Heart Day was observed Monday throughout the province.
Different programs including walk, public awareness interactive session, free medical camps as well as symposium on preventive cardiology were held to mark the day in Peshawar (Khyber Teaching Hospital, Lady Reading Hospital , Hayatabad Medical Complex), Kohat, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Swat, Bannu and DI Khan.
Professor Dr. Hafizullah, Professor Dr. Zahid Aslam, Professor Dr. Adnan and Professor Dr. Amber Ashraf while addressing a symposium at a local hotel here threw light on important cardio vascular risk factors as well as awareness and prevention about the disease.
Interactive session with audience including general practitioners, health professionals, nurses, cardiac technicians and young training medical officers were held after the symposium.
Professor Dr. Amber Ashraf during the interactive session talked about different preventive risk factors like hypertension, diabetes, smoking women heart diseases, sugar, cholesterol and obesity.
Department of Cardiology Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar under the banner of Pakistan Cardiac Society in collaboration with world Heart Federation marked the day by awaring general public about the issues of heart.
