PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cycling Association and in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports organized the Kashmir Solidarity Day Cycle Race here on Northern Bypass, Ring Road in which more than 50 cyclists in the senior and junior categories took part.
Omar Farooq of Mardan won the Kashmir Day Cycle Race, Sajjad Ali Khan of Peshawar and Abdullah, also from Peshawar, recorded second and third position respectively in the cycle race while in the Junior category Yousuf claimed the first position. Member Provincial Assembly Asif Khan distributed prizes among the athletes along with President of Pakistan Cycling Federation Syed Azhar Ali Shah, Secretary General and President of Provincial Cycling Association Nisar Ahmed, Technical Officers Murad Ali, Iftikhar Awan, Murtaza, Muhammad Hassan, Bilal and other important personalities were present.
The senior race covered a distance of 28 km in which Omar Farooq of Mardan came first with a time of 42: 35sec, Sajjad Ali Khan of Peshawar came second with a time of 42: 40sec and Abdullah of Peshawar came third with a time of 42: 43sec.
In the 14 km junior category race, cyclists from different clubs of Peshawar took part in which Yousuf of Sajid Cycling Club won first, Waris second and Waheed of Noorabad Club third.
Secretary General of Pakistan Cycling Federation Nisar Ahmad inaugurated the race. At the closing ceremony, the special guest Member Provincial Assembly Asif Khan distributed prizes among the players.
